Coordination Center Woman & Work South to Launch Next Month

Hamburg Coordination Center "Woman & Work South" debuts in January 2006 at the place of TuTech Innovation GmbH, located in the heart of Channel Hamburg - Binnenhafen Harburg.

Experienced human resource and OD consultants will support families and companies in Hamburg to find the appropriate balance between occupational career and family responsibilities. They will provide a broad array of consulting services for staff and human resource managers, such as how the current position can be safeguarded before mothers or fathers take off for parental leave. During parental leave, mothers and fathers will be offered qualification and training schemes to gear up for a successful job re-entry.

"We are very happy to locate our southern branch office in the Channel Hamburg, Binnenhafen Harburg. Here we have a unique opportunity to build up an integrated network with companies located in the South-Elbe-region", says project director Susanne Dreas. "Staff as well as management will both benefit from this project. Work-life-balance schemes help companies to maintain valuable resources which otherwise would be lost".

For a small annual fee, companies can make use of all consulting and human resource services of the Coordination Center, e.g. workshops on how to improve the compatibility between work and family, organization of vacation and sickness replacements, as well as hiring highly qualified staff. Job-seeking mothers and fathers can make an appointment for a consultation free of charge at any time.

The Coordination Center "Women & Work South" is one of Hamburg's three Coordination Centers. It will be implemented on the basis of a resolution that the Hamburg Senate passed at its conclave on family policy in June. KWB e.V. was chosen as supporting organization by the Hamburg Ministry of Economy and Labor. The project is financed by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and the European Social Fund.
