Hamburg - a family-friendly place to live?

Internet Discussion: 2000 Ideas for a Familiy-friendly living in Hamburg

From October, 17th to November, 12th all families in Hamburg had the chance to be a part of an online discussion http://www.familienleben-hamburg.de and to develop ideas how their hometown could be more family-friendly. More than 8000 people used the forum. About 400 registered participants wrote more than 2000 articles and statements. The internet discussion was arranged by TuTech Innovation GmbH by order of the Senate of the City of Hamburg.

The discourse was accompanied and supported by locals VIPs and politicians that took part in the online discussion and also by an event at Tutech, when experts like the Vice mayor of Hamburg and the Senator for Construction have been on the podium.

Now the discussion is going to be analysed and interpreted by TuTech Innovation GmbH with assistance of an institute (Instituts für Entwicklungsplanung und Strukturforschung). This will lead to a guideline or handbook for all inhabitants, experts, for the local authorities, for politicians, for city planner - for everyone: "Family-friendly living in Hamburg". The guideline will be based on all contributions to the whole discussion as well as on the summaries of the moderators.

The guideline will be presented to the public by the Department of Social and Family Affairs Hamburg within an event in spring 2006.
