HARBOURSAFARI

Expeditions to a Temporary Art Exhibition in the Harburg Inner Port

Now it is official!
The VISP-project team of TuTech is very proud to announce that in 2005 HARBOURSAFARI will enter the "Harburger Binnenhafen" (Harburg inner port). The Safari will start on August 12 and end on September 4, 2005.

Many areas of the Hamburg harbour presently undergo fundamental transformation - not only the future "Hafencity Hamburg" in the heart of the city, but also the southern harbour areas. The "Harburger Binnenhafen" - Harburg Inner Port - was built under English Influence like the harbour of London. The HARBOURSAFARI invites the public to get to know these areas, to experience the fascinating process of urban transformation - and to become part of it.

The first HARBOURSAFARI took place in 2003, exploring the area of the future "Hafencity Hamburg". 2004 the HARBOURSAFARI explored the other side of the river Elbe. The topic of the exhibition was the place itself and the atmosphere of an unexplored island - ranging from the feeling of being on holiday to the sensation of being lost in other dimensions between cranes, infrastructure and containers. The HARBOURSAFARI 2003 was presented as officical German contribution to the Biennale in Venice - 9.  International architecture exhibition 2004.

"Call for Artists"
HARBOURSAFARI gives the opportunity in joining the temporary art exhibition to artists of all sections (screen end art, theatre, dance, literature, music, film, photography, media art, performance), architects, landscape architects and culture-creative. Also interdisciplinary teams are invited. An independent jury will decide about the participation. Also Artists of the VISP member cities are kindly invited to participate!
