The shopping streets near to the river sides of the Leie are attracting new investors again thanks to active trade committees. The revitalisation of this area of the city centre will be reinforced by the opening of the new business centre in the fall of 2006.

The Gate building of the Vetex factory used to be a textile dispatching factory. It was built during the Interbellum and is one of Kortrijks most important industrial heritages.

The procedure about the Vetex Factory has been accelerated. The predesign of the reconversion of the gate building into a community centre and facilities for the local youth mouvement has been approved by the local politicians.
