 Atmosfeer 07, third edition, has been organised in Kortrijk from the 11th until the 15th of October 2007. It is a shopping-, art- and interiorroute in the inner city.

Library open 24 hours / 24 hours In december, the Library of Kortrijk will be modernized with an automatic self-service desk and the use of electronic identity cards as a library pass. Also 50 new computers for free internet use will be installed.

        The Flemisch Community published in 2003 a white book on urban policy,The century of the city‘ which inspires also cities as Kortrijk in their vision about the development of Kortrijk. It is the result of two years of work, which started with background analyses and discussions between academics, experts and other stakeholders.

Study about combination LLL and Library

                        Some members of the steering group New Library On the 9th of March 2004, a work group New Library with external experts and key players of the city administration has got the assignment to investigate a desirable concept for the New Library in Kortrijk. This resulted in 2005 in two vision texts about the funtion of the library and decisions on the concept of the library, the decentralised structure and work, the role as provider of educational services, automation, competence management, location and building program.

Visit of Ministre of Culture to Kortrijk

At the end of October the Flemish minister of Culture visited various cultural initiatives in Kortrijk, such as the Buda Island, the museum 1302 that will be opened to the public next year and Community Centre Overleie. The project of the new library ( part of VISP ) was presented to him.

Kortrijk, City of Taste 2007

The Flemish Minister of Culture gave the title of City of Taste 2007 to the City of Kortrijk. This means Kortrijk is host for the Week of Taste 2007 and organises the closing event on the 24th of November.

Vetex is now V-tex thanks to VISP

The Gatebuilding of the former Vetex factory, now baptised V-tex, has become a very attractive and multifunctional neighbourhood centre in Kortrijk thanks to the support of VISP.The Gatebuilding is part of the former textile factory that was closed down some fifteen years ago.

Study visit to Idea Stores London

                        For the study about the combination of Library and LLL in Kortrijk, an inventory of best practices from Belgium and abroad has been made.One good example of this synergy has been found in the Idea Stores of London.

  The Library of Kortrijk starts in November with a mobile service for a less mobile public ( sick, elderly or handicapt people ) with the Venning as a pilot area. The project Book@Home is a collaboration of the City of Kortrijk, the Public Centre of Social Welfare and an organisation that gives training and a first work experience to youngsters and is financed by ESF.

Buda Free Estate

          Invitation From Monday 10th to Sunday 16th and during the weekend of 22 and 23 October 2005 three premises in the Budastreet will be taken in by a collective of young artists. They fill in their proper vision of a Free Estate as a physical and as a mental space.
