WP 2 workshop at Kortrijk

Kortrijk invited the VISP partners to a workshop on WP 2 Integrated Urban Planning from the 27th until the 29th of September 2006. 20 delegates from abroad and 20 projectpartners from Kortrijk assisted to the thematic workshop.


On Wednesday the 27th of September the official opening of the V-tex gatebuilding took place. It has been realized thanks to the financial support of VISP.  About 300 people were present at the opening ceremony: stakeholders and officials, the VISP project partners and the neighbours, all participant were very pleased to be present at the succesful opening.


On Thursday the urban planners worked around the theme 'Realisation and organisation of major strategic integrated city projects'.


Mr. Frans Destoop, the Alderman of Cityplanning gave a global introduction about the situation in Kortrijk.

Professor Gordon E. Dabinett recalled the partners about the model used in VISP.

Mr. Frans Van Den Bossche talked about the urban policy in Flanders and brought some elements of new practices into the picture.

It was Mrs. Ramona Hinkel who explained us about the process of change in Hamburg-Harburg.

Mr. Arne Enger gave a description of the environmental solutions and urban planning in the city of Drammen.

Mr. Leif Fred talked about the implementation of a vision in Mölndal.

A best practice was illustrated by Frans Van Den Bossche explaining the Buda Island in Kortrijk.

In the afternoon, Mr. Filip Van Haverbeke talked about Private-Public Co-operations and city projects in Ostend (B.).


On Friday the 29th, the theme was 'Integration and linking organisations on the different levels like cities, regions, ...'

Mr. Tom Delmotte talked about linking within the city, which is a new s practice in Kortrijk.

The networkcity Twente, planning in the metropolitan area Kortrijk-Lille and planning in the region of Kortrijk were other topics presented.

Finally, some of the partners stayed in the afternoon to visit some projects and public spaces (e.g. the newly renovated businesscentre) in the centre of Kortrijk.
