Educating tourist guides in Drammen Region

Education programme for guides in Hurum and Røyken.

Hurumhalvøya and the two exciting municipalities Røyken and Hurum are only a short distance from the capital Oslo and Drammen, the region centre.  Hurumhalvøya has a lot to offer: peaceful countryside, all kinds of cultural events, museums, galleries and summer exhibitions.  One of the main attractions is the beautiful coastline around the peninsula.  Outdoors activities typical for the shore areas include boating, fishing, swimming, walking and camping.  The upland areas further inland can tempt their visitors to a variety of activities  with woodland trails and small idyllic lakes in abundance.  Røyken and Hurum have an active cultural scene.  Both municipalities offer a wide range of attractions suiting many needs.
This autumn Hurumhalvøyas Skatter starts a course in educating guides in collaboration with the Norwegian Guide Association.  People from the region who are interested in local history  and are looking for an interesting job in the local travel industry, are welcome to participate.  The programme is developed by the project manager together with the guide association and local spesialist in the history of the region wil lecture.
Next summer we also intend to start up a guideservice.  The guideservice will specialise in guiding groups in and around Hurumhalvøya and will provide guides for gropus arriving at Hurumhalvøya by bus all year round.  An interesting market for the service is also visitors coming by cruise ships arriving at Drammen and Oslo ports.  The service will also offer to assist hotels with groups attending congresses and seminars. The guideservice wil be established under the local travel and tourism association.
