Kortrijk 2007 Review : Meesterproef

De Meesterproef 2007 ( Master Examination 2007 ) is an initiative of the Flemish Buildingmaster to give young architects the chance to work in gouvernment assignments and to get to know the gouvernment as contractor.This year's edition runs in the City of Kortrijk.
Closure project Mosselbank

On the 11th of Octobre 2006, the City of Kortrijk organised an official moment to celebrate the end of project Mosselbank and the beginning of an independant volunteer association at the Mosselbank. The Mosselbank was an social appartment block with safety problems.

Exhibition VISP

From the 25th of April until the 11th of May ( at the occasion of the European Week), citizens of Kortrijk can visit a small exhibition on the realisations of VISP in Kortrijk at the City Hall in Kortrijk. Afterwards, it will be shown by various subpartners like The Public Centre of Social Welfare, community centres and the library.

After the visit to Enschede, the filmcrew arrived in Kortrijk to shoot the necessary film material about the local projects. On the agenda were : visit to the gate building with its various activities ( sport school, circus school, interview with the theatre association, recording of the CD of the L'Orchestre International du Vetex ), shooting at the business centre and the recording of the statement of the Mayor and some explanation about the project of the new library.
Vetex is now V-tex thanks to VISP

The Gatebuilding of the former Vetex factory, now baptised V-tex, has become a very attractive and multifunctional neighbourhood centre in Kortrijk thanks to the support of VISP.The Gatebuilding is part of the former textile factory that was closed down some fifteen years ago.
White Paper on Urban Policy

The Flemisch Community published in 2003 a white book on urban policy,The century of the city which inspires also cities as Kortrijk in their vision about the development of Kortrijk. It is the result of two years of work, which started with background analyses and discussions between academics, experts and other stakeholders.
Spatial structure plan Kortrijk : opening exhibition

The City of Kortrijk prepared a spatial structure plan for the city, in which the vision about spatial development in the long term is explained. It adresses how the city will develop green spaces, housing, the city centre, open spaces.
Progress at the Vetex

The gatebuilding of a former textile factory is being transformed into a community centre for neighbourhood and a youth association. In the building a extra level with 4 rooms comes just under the roof.
