The City of Kortrijk prepared a spatial structure plan for the city, in which the vision about spatial development in the long term is explained. It adresses how the city will develop green spaces, housing, the city centre, open spaces.
Exhibition VISP

From the 25th of April until the 11th of May ( at the occasion of the European Week), citizens of Kortrijk can visit a small exhibition on the realisations of VISP in Kortrijk at the City Hall in Kortrijk. Afterwards, it will be shown by various subpartners like The Public Centre of Social Welfare, community centres and the library.

Some members of the steering group New Library
On the 9th of March 2004, a work group New Library with external experts and key players of the city administration has got the assignment to investigate a desirable concept for the New Library in Kortrijk. This resulted in 2005 in two vision texts about the funtion of the library and decisions on the concept of the library, the decentralised structure and work, the role as provider of educational services, automation, competence management, location and building program.
Eu-project NENSI about Service Incubator Centres

The EU project NENSI has been finalised at the beginning of March. During this project, with partners from Twente ( near Enschede ) and Kortrijk, this Northern European Network for Service Incubators has developed service support desks for young entrepreneurs.
New open learning centre in Kortrijk

Students of the Provincial Technical Institute in Kortrijk can improve their learning process thanks to the new open learning centre and the electronical learning environment with 36 computers and 30 places for individual work. Stuents don't get traditional lessons, but can work individually under guidance.

The gatebuilding of a former textile factory is being transformed into a community centre for neighbourhood and a youth association. In the building a extra level with 4 rooms comes just under the roof.

The Netherlands Public Library Association (Vereniging van Openbare Bibliotheken) and the Flemish agency for public libraries (Vlaams Centrum voor Openbare Bibliotheken - VCOB) have formed the Low Countries LIbrary Link. They take turns in organizing and hosting an international seminar, choosing as its theme a current itopig for colleagues in the low countries and their neighbouring countries.
