                  At the opening event of Interieur 06, Flemish Minister of Economy, Mme Fientje Moerman announced that Kortrijk will become the Competence Pool for Product Development and Industrial Design. This means that companies, service SME’s, specialized high schools and knowledge centres will be united to strenghten the position of the Flemish SME’s.

The Mosselbank was an social appartment block with safety problems.

The Gatebuilding of the former Vetex factory, now baptised V-tex, has become a very attractive and multifunctional neighbourhood centre in Kortrijk thanks to the support of VISP.The Gatebuilding is part of the former textile factory that was closed down some fifteen years ago.

International Competition Entente Florale The City of Kortrijk is nominated for the International Competition Entente Florale. On Friday the 7th of July 2006, Kortrijk received the international jury to show some local projects in greenery, who evaluated them on various criteria : greenery and flowers, ecology and environment, city development and infrastructure, culture, education and sensibilisation, tourism and recreation, cooperation and communication.
