Atmosfeer 07, third edition, has been organised in Kortrijk from the 11th until the 15th of October 2007. It is a shopping-, art- and interiorroute in the inner city.

Industrial zone gets pilot project for design in Kortrijk
Vzw Designregio of Kortrijk takes a few concrete steps to improve its impact on the use of design-objects. In Autumn 2005, there will be very concrete initiatives for design at the industrial site of Kortrijk-Kuurne.

Kortrijk aims at becoming an important European city of design. Various initiatives have been taken so far : the appointment of two design masters as advisors to the city, the presence of the association Interieur that organises the design fair every two years and various education programms at local highschools, such as industrial design (240 students).

Competence Pool for Product Development and Industrial Design

At the opening event of Interieur 06, Flemish Minister of Economy, Mme Fientje Moerman announced that Kortrijk will become the Competence Pool for Product Development and Industrial Design. This means that companies, service SMEs, specialized high schools and knowledge centres will be united to strenghten the position of the Flemish SMEs.

Family SMEs in Kortrijk have united in a non profit organisation in order to promote Kortrijk as an art and design city and to support the Kortrijk entrepreneurs.From 13 October until 17 October 2005, you will be able to follow a walking tour called Atmosfeer".
Week of Designers, Kortrijk 05

At the end of June is the first edition of the Week of Design in Kortrijk : 15 exhibitions of technical creative artists in fields like architecture, fashion, multimedia, textile design, photography, film, furniture, flowers, jewellery and graphic design. This is an initiative of the City of Kortrijk in collaboration with about hundred companies and artists and all technical-creative training institutes.

Kortrijk aims at marketing its city as the city of design. Therefore it has recruited 2 Design Masters in the beginning of this year in order give guidance and advice to various projects in Kortrijk in the next two years : Dominique Pieters and Marc Dubois.
