The Gatebuilding is part of the former textile factory that was closed down some fifteen years ago. The building dates from the Interbellum. It is a part of Kortrijks architectural heritage. The total construction has been kept respectfully as it used to be, but now there are 6 available meeting rooms for youngsters in it and a big multifunctional volume for sports, social and cultural activities. The renovation of the building costed 670.000 euro.
Some 300 people were at the opening ceremony which was a big festivity. As a delegation of the European partners of VISP assisted a workshop about spatial planning in Kortrijk, they were able to attend at the official inauguration of the building on Wednesday the 27th of September 2006.
The Orchestre International du Vetex also played its well tasted music for the attentive audience. Other activities such as soccer competions, a basketball competition with the politicians and the inhabitants and a brunch on sunday made the opening complete.
