New open learning centre in Kortrijk

Students of the Provincial Technical Institute in Kortrijk can improve their learning process thanks to the new open learning centre and the electronical learning environment with 36 computers and 30 places for individual work. Stuents don't get traditional lessons, but can work individually under guidance.  They can use courseprograms, texts, spread sheets, databases, encyclopedia and dictionaries as software, but also have the classic tools, video's and cd-roms at their disposal. Each student has its own account and protected folder on the computer. When a tesk is done, they put it in a folder for correction by the teacher.

Digital techniques help the students on internet : there are indications about the steps to follow in order to solve a problem, exercises to test their knowledge, the possibility to make a portfolio of collected material and knowledge and a simple website for groupwork.
