New music centre Kortrijk

The new Music Centre of Kortrijk should give the city centre of Kortrijk some new musical impulses. At this very moment, the city of Kortrijk has chosen 5 candidates out of 15 architects. At the end of November they should present their first draft. On the 6th of December the City will decide which bureau has won the competition.

Before, it used to be the building of Radio 2, the official Radio network. Up to now, more than 300 activities take place in one month. Nowadays, its studios are being used by many young musicians. They can obtain some advise on taxes, publicity, networking, etc ... Even the famous singer composer Ozark Henry (who lives in Kortrijk) is one of the godfathers of the project.

In 2006, the building will be redesigned. In the long term it should be an operating base for musicians who come from all over the region. Redesigning the centre means also to bring more people into the centre of Kortrijk. And that is exactly one of the aims of city planning ...
