The project is the result of a unique partnership of the City of Kortrijk, The Public Centre for Social Welfare, a neighbourhood committee and various social economy companies and has got various honours.

‘ The neighbourhood Venning was neglected and with this project one wanted to upgrade the whole area’ said Jan Desmet, technical coordinator of the lay and maintenance. ‘ The neighbourhood is inhabited for the half byelderly people, single mothers, people with a low income or unemployed and immigrants. For this target group, we created a recreational place for youngsters to meet with a graffiti wall, ping pong table, football field and club house, where school classes get regularly nature education and where long-term unemployed get training in maintenance of gardens and nature. There is a unique butterfly garden and the area attracks hundreds of birds, interesting for bird watchers.
