Pentecost festival : the biggest happening in Kortrijk

During the weekend of Pentecost 50.000 people came to Kortrijk for a big cultural event with flee markets, inlineskating, book sales in the library, street theatre and a multicultural activities organised in collaboration with allochthonous self organisations. Immigrants presented their first fashion show, named ‘Life as it is’, in which they presented traditional clothes for work, leisure time and marriage. There were many stands where typical dishes of various cultures where prepared. 6 allochthonous women of Kortrijk sang songs that tell their story. One could participate in Cinékaraoke : performing a role in a film scene in the right costume, make-up and accessoires. But the most important aspect of the ‘Sinksenfeesten’ is the street theatre with artists spread all over the city and a special Island of Play and Do-culture for kids.
