citizen involvement about the Buda Island of art

In the centre of Kortrijk, an island has been formed by two branches of the river Leie. The City of Kortrijk is enlarging one of these branches in order to give way to bigger ships to pass through. These works of course affects seriously the life in the centre, but we are also aiming at profiling the island as an island of art. It has to be a melting pot for various artistic and creative movements.

The City of Kortrijk organises now meetings about the future of the Buda Island for all its citizens, the artistic and cultural sector in order to stimulate Buda-initiatives, new ideas and form partnerships.

Each week, another aspect of the island will be emphasized :

- 27/04/2005 : the impact of the physical changes around the island

- 04/05/2005 : the history of the island

- 11/05/2005 : the care sector on the island

- 18/05/2005 : the renovation of the cinema Pentascoop

- 25/05/2005 : Buda photography

There will be also discussions about design and plastic arts.
