During the week of social economy from the 3rd to the 10th of March, Mobiel received the title of Ambassador of Social Economy ( category Employment and Environment ) of the Secretary of the State Els Van Weert. Mobiel is a social economy project in Kortrijk that promotes environmental friendly transport by bike while providing employment for unemployed people. Mobiel hands out bikes for local transport, is active in bike education and bike tourism activities. At the press conference on the 10th of March, the first self-service station for cyclists, Altao, was presented to the public. Services like cleaning, reparing and an information terminal with info about cycling tours, travel facilities, restaurants, advice and technical know-how are available 24 hours a day.  Mobiel is looking for partnerships with international actors, through participation in the EU-project SustAccess for example, in order to exchange knowledge and to transfer the succesful formula, like a real Ambassador should do.
