The new peninsula as seen from the River Park. Holmennokken, the artificial peninsula in the middle of the Drammen river, has now been made into a park area with a leisure boat quay, a sand beach, a circular gravel playing field and green slopes.

The 6th of September was closing day for a modest but successful regional development project. In this project he Drammen region, the municipalities of Asker and Vestby and three county councils co-operated for developing yachting ports and landing stages along the Drammen fjord and river and neighbouring parts of the Oslo fjord.

Drammen and Honningsvåg (near the North Cape) competed for the title of "Norway's Summer City 2006" in an sms referendum held by the traditional summer radio programme in the Norwegian national broadcasting company (NRK).

A business conference on More Diversity fosters value creation and innovation is held at Drammen International Cultural Centre, Tuesday, March 21st, 2006 Presentations by: Head of the Drammen Region Board, Political secretary from the Department for Labour and Social Inclusion, Senior researcher from The Work Research Institute, Senior advisor from the Diversity at Work Foundation, HR manager from Opera Software, Director of Directorate of Integration and Diversity, NHO - Confederation of Norwegian Enterprises, General manager of Norwegian Centre for Multicultural Value Creation and others. Norwegian Centre for Multicultural Value Creation is a national pilot project in the Drammen region, with an aim to demonstrate values, entrepreneurial spirit and professionalism and contribution among immigrants in Norway.
Drammen Port - Draft for a new strategic plan

Port of Drammen has recently presented a draft for a new strategic plan (2006 - 2015). The plan is to relocate the rail terminal in Drammen from the city center to the port (Holmen) and establish a intermodal terminal for rail, sea and road.
