More space for leisure activities in Drammen

The new peninsula as seen from the  River Park.

Holmennokken, the artificial peninsula in the middle of the Drammen river, has now been made into a park area with a leisure boat quay, a sand beach, a circular gravel playing field and green slopes. The peninsula has been made from rock taken out of the mountains on either side of the city in order to build  tunnels to lead heavy traffic out of the city centre.
The park is 25 minutes' walk along the river park path from Bragernes market place in the city centre. The Holmennokken park will be opened officially by the mayor of Drammen on August 23rd.
Next riverside project is the boardwalk on the other side of the river. The first poles are already placed along the Strømsø river bank.
