BODORFA

the coat of arms of BodorfaIt was first mentioned in 1412 as Sárosbodorfalu. During the years of the Tartar and the Ottoman occupation it was completely destroyed. The ruins of the church from the Middle Ages could still be seen in the last century, according to the legend, monks lived here. The church was once attacked by the Turks, and many people were killed.

Inside the village in front of the local shop there has been a cemetery discovered with several mass graves and coins from the 16th century. In 1720 Bodorfa was deserted, however it soon became inhabited by the descendants of some Hungarian and German aristocrats. The population of the village is 148.

Sárosbodorfalu got its forename "sáros" (meaning muddy), because even in 1964 it was almost impossible to access the village in heavy rains.
